Moving into a residential care home is a big decision and it is important to understand the costs and fees associated with care so that you and your family can choose the home, accommodation type and payment option that best meets your needs. The fees that your pay cover the cost of the care you receive and your accommodation in an aged care home.

While aged care fees are subsidised by the Australian Government, you may be asked to contribute to the cost of your care and accommodation if you can afford to do so.

We strongly recommend that you seek independent financial advice to help you choose the right option for you.

Basic Daily Fee

This covers all living costs such as meals & laundry services. This fee is approximately 85% of the age pension and is set by the Australian Government. This fee is adjusted twice each year in accordance with the change in age pension.

As at the 20 September 2023 the basic daily fee is $60.86 per day or $852.04 per fortnight.

Means-tested care fee

This is calculated by the Department of Human Services and is solely based on your Combined Assets and Income Assessment. There are annual and lifetime caps in place to limit the amount of means-tested fee that a resident can be asked to pay.

Accommodation Cost

Accommodation costs are determined by the age care facility. Tenterfield Care Centre’s Refundable Accommodation Deposit is $450,000. Depending on a residents Combined Assets and Income Assessment, they may have their accommodation costs met in full or part by the Australian Government. There are options available to pay accommodation costs.

Haddington – all rooms $450,000.00

Millrace  - $450,000.00. Millrace offers 4 larger style rooms with walk-in-wardrobes. These four rooms are $480,000.00. Please contact us to discuss the availability of these rooms.
