Volunteer

Volunteering in a residential aged care home can be a truly rewarding experience for both the residents and volunteers, and is an excellent way to make a difference within your local community.

On average, Australians today are living 30 years longer than they would have a century ago, and as dementia is the leading cause of disability among the over 65s, volunteer programs and support in the aged care sector is more important than ever.

Ensuring that residents enjoy a purposeful and fulfilling lifestyle is at the heart TCC. Each one of our residents is unique, with their own individual personalities, interests and lifestyle preferences, and by volunteering you’ll be able to provide the additional support needed to ensure residents can continue to engage in life-long interests they enjoy, helping them to live life as usual.

No two days are ever the same. Our lifestyle programs are as varied and vibrant as our residents, but a typical lifestyle options, where you could be involved, could include:

  • Company, conversation and socialisation

  • Escorting residents to medical appointments

  • Reading to our residents

  • Escorting residents to the beach, coffee shops and other local amenities

  • Fundraising activities

  • Gardening

  • Birthday parties, high teas, and other themed celebrations within the home

So, whether you can only spare a couple of hours a week or you’re able to offer frequent, daily support, if you’re passionate about making a difference to the lives of others then we’d love to welcome you to the team.
